I say it all the time …. “I like what I am able to do for work and can’t imagine doing anything else!” I really am lucky. Even though, a great deal of my work comes after I take my pictures with editing, uploading, etc. etc. That is when my pictures come to life for me — I LOVE that! I love being able to feel how things were at the time pictures are taken. Pictures should tell a story, and that is always my goal every time I cover an event or do a portrait session. Which leads me to another thought I have had recently. How many times do you look at old pictures and laugh at a particuliar face or expression someone made or a silly outfit, or see an object in the background and think of something else? Old pictures can spark so much emotion! While I always strive to get classic shots and the posed ones that moms want, I also capture the unposed — the candids! I think these are the absolute best! They tell the story! I always tell clients that I want my pictures to be like a time stamp — to freeze time as it is. That being said, as parents we know that kids don’t always smile for the camera, in fact, I cringe when people say “say cheese”. I would much rather engage children in coversation about things they like to evoke smiles and laughs. Even still not, all kids want to smile — sometimes it’s there way of having control or it’s simply being 2, or 3 or 4 and sometimes even 10! I want to capture personalities. Either way, it’s always my goal to record life the way it is on any particuliar day no day is ever perfect. In doing so, I think my images will be treasured for life. Some day they will be way more interesting. Years from now, I hope people can remember the day, how mom got them dressed what their baby brother or sister did to them or how they laughed! While I have the technical skill and artistry, I want to capture the realness of your life — I want to tell your story!

Without further adieu, here’s a wonderful family I met last week. I had so much fun with them, and that’s another part of my job I love — meeting new people! These little girls were so sweet. While only two years apart, I just loved how the older girl called her sister baby. I just chuckled because they were both just babies to me (and so incredibly precious). Their session brought me back to when my boys were this age, and oh what I would do to have had a family picture of all of us when they were that little!

I think this may have been my longest blog post ever. With no more delays, here is this incredibly sweet family!

The other night I had the pleasure of shooting this beautiful family! It’s been in the making for quite some time and I was so happy to finally get it done. It’s especially fun to meet these adorable little girls since I have known their parents for many many years! They all did great and this preview is only the beginning.

Last night was such a gorgeous night, and it was perfect for this family’s beach session! I was so fortunate to be able to travel to Dennisport to photograph them while they were on vacation. It was the first time I had met all of them, and they did great in front of the camera. Even the little babies did a great job. I had so much fun and am happy I was able to capture this families memories. Here’s a quick preview of the session! By the way, there are still session times available for this summer — just email amykellyphotography@gmail.com to reserve your family’s session now.

Fall fun….

October 12, 2010

I am finally finished blogging my most recent sessions! Now I have to spend some time and back track on the ones I missed at the end of the summer. I wanted to show the falls ones first to remind people to book their fall sessions now while the color is getting gorgeous. It’s only the beginning of the foliage season but it will come and go quickly, so don’t wait — book now! Here’s a few shots from a session I had with an adorable family this past weekend. This session was almost two years in the making, and I am so happy we finally pulled it off. It went great! I am always happy to meet new people — they are a great family! Without further adieu, take a look!

Fall Friday…..

October 11, 2010

Here’s a glimpse of a terrific session I had on Friday afternoon. I had been looking forward to this shoot at the Charlestown Navy Yard — I feel so lucky to have so many awesome locations near by! This was surely a great spot and of course, I had some fantastic subjects too! Once again, I love having repeat families and this is one of them. Here’s there session from last summer! These little girls were awesome — maybe models some day? lol There will be many more images from this shoot. Here’s the beginning!

I am loving these shoes!

Fall is here…..

October 11, 2010

I love the, and it’s my favorite time for out-door pictures! While I am weeks behind in blogging, I can’t resist posting some sneak peeks of my sessions this weekend while they are fresh on my mind. Isn’t she sweet? I think the cool, crisp air might have been slightly shocking, but she warmed up to the camera in a little time. It’s so fun to see how babies respond to all the things in nature. She loved grabbing the grass. This session was the first of what will be many for me at one of my favorite venues. Here’s a quick preview but there will be more to come! If you’re looking for a wonderful spot for a fall session, message me at amykellyphotography@gmail.com. This is certainly an awesome spot. The foliage is starting to become brilliant. Don’t wait to book your session!

Cool beach pics….

September 4, 2010

This was such a great night for beach pictures. I love living so close to the beach — and this spot on the beach is a hidden gem! It was a great combination of a great location and an equally great looking family! Here’s a sneak peek of their session! There is still time to book your family beach session. amykellyphotography@gmail.com to reserve your session!

I almost forgot….

July 18, 2010

to post this wonderful session to my blog! I was in such a rush before vacation that a few sessions have still not made it to my blog. Nonetheless this session turned out awesome, as these two brothers rocked it! They were so photogenic, despite the heat. The location, provided some good shade and also good light for a late morning shoot (which would not have worked out just anywhere). Here’s a glimpse of the session….

Brothers….

June 23, 2010

This was such a special shoot. It wasn’t just a two year old shoot or a senior shoot. Instead it combined the two, as it was for two brothers — one who is two years old and the other who is eighteen years old. The older brother will be leaving for college this summer so it documents a really special time for them. Both boys were so handsome and photogenic. It was also obvious to me that, though spread apart in years, they were very close. The little guy adored his big brother and the older guy was so loving and patient with him. I really enjoyed getting to capture this special time. I love that many of the photos were candid. I think they will be very special in the years to follow. Best of luck to the recent graduate – I think you’ll always have a very special little man always looking up to you!
