There is nothing better than a brand new baby — a miracle! I was thrilled for the opportunity to photograph this little angel! In fact, I was practically counting the weeks for her arrival. She is just as precious as her big sister’s, who by the way, are two of my favorite models and have appeared on my blog quite a few times already! With the help of my mom, A.K.A. “the baby whisperer”, everything went quite smoothly. Lucky for me, my mom is great with babies. She positioned her just right each time! The old girls made it fun too! I love getting my girl fix too. When everything at my house is legos, balls, and nerf guns, it’s pretty fun to talk nail polish, and “feathers”! Here’s a preview of some of the highlights — cuteness alert!
Sleeping babies are so peaceful!

I LOVE little feet pictures!

All the girls!

Love how fun these girls can be!

I am proud to call this little guy one of my “regulars”. His parents purchased a newborn to one year package, and I am honored to get to visit them every few months. Here’s his newborn session! As you can see, he is super cute! I just love his sessions. When I arrive his outfits have all been selected along with the most ADORABLE hats! Hopefully he won’t mind more hat over the next year, because I am sure his mom has more picked out for next time. I love having being able to see babies grow and it’s a great feeling for me to be able to document different milestones with them and their families. I look forward to our next session!

Here’s my latest newborn! Well of course not “mine”, but my newest little subject! Isn’t he fantastic? He entered the world a month early and was just two week old for his first portrait session. He is too cute and just went with the flow for the entire session. I don’t think he even cried once… well maybe just once. Other than that, he let us just pose him the whole time. I had been exchanging emails and calls with his mom for a couple of months and was so happy to finally meet her and him. I am just thrilled their family has been blessed with Brendan! I am looking forward to a year of sessions with him. I love seeing how much babies change in their first year. Check back — this handsome little guy will be making quite a few appearances on the blog over the course of the year!

I say it all the time …. “I like what I am able to do for work and can’t imagine doing anything else!” I really am lucky. Even though, a great deal of my work comes after I take my pictures with editing, uploading, etc. etc. That is when my pictures come to life for me — I LOVE that! I love being able to feel how things were at the time pictures are taken. Pictures should tell a story, and that is always my goal every time I cover an event or do a portrait session. Which leads me to another thought I have had recently. How many times do you look at old pictures and laugh at a particuliar face or expression someone made or a silly outfit, or see an object in the background and think of something else? Old pictures can spark so much emotion! While I always strive to get classic shots and the posed ones that moms want, I also capture the unposed — the candids! I think these are the absolute best! They tell the story! I always tell clients that I want my pictures to be like a time stamp — to freeze time as it is. That being said, as parents we know that kids don’t always smile for the camera, in fact, I cringe when people say “say cheese”. I would much rather engage children in coversation about things they like to evoke smiles and laughs. Even still not, all kids want to smile — sometimes it’s there way of having control or it’s simply being 2, or 3 or 4 and sometimes even 10! I want to capture personalities. Either way, it’s always my goal to record life the way it is on any particuliar day no day is ever perfect. In doing so, I think my images will be treasured for life. Some day they will be way more interesting. Years from now, I hope people can remember the day, how mom got them dressed what their baby brother or sister did to them or how they laughed! While I have the technical skill and artistry, I want to capture the realness of your life — I want to tell your story!

Without further adieu, here’s a wonderful family I met last week. I had so much fun with them, and that’s another part of my job I love — meeting new people! These little girls were so sweet. While only two years apart, I just loved how the older girl called her sister baby. I just chuckled because they were both just babies to me (and so incredibly precious). Their session brought me back to when my boys were this age, and oh what I would do to have had a family picture of all of us when they were that little!

I think this may have been my longest blog post ever. With no more delays, here is this incredibly sweet family!

This handsome little guy is certainly no stranger to my blog! In his short twelve months of life, he’s made it to my blog and fb page several times. Isn’t he handsome and quite adorable too? I had so much fun photographing him on his birthday — he surely “worked” the camera. I love his silly expressions and smiles! I think he might even be quite the athlete one day — look at one of the pictures below where he is sporting a sideways one handed plank! ha ha ha Here’s a glimpse of his session below! You will see his back yard is quite pretty too!

Beautiful…..

May 27, 2011

I spent yesterday photographing a beautiful newborn. I say it every time, but there’s nothing better than a newborn baby! It feels like her mom just told me she was expecting and ever since she did, I was excited to do her newborn session. I was equally as happy to see her big brother too. He is always a little model for me and of course he did not disappoint me yesterday. It was awesome to see how much he already loves his baby sister, and I was so happy to capture his adoration for her! I could have spent the entire day with them — time just flew by! Here’s a preview of their session.

Doubley sweet…..

May 10, 2011

Oh my gosh — they were so sweet! I was so excited to photograph these ten day old babies and twins! They are just precious. If only I could have bottled up that baby smell — awesome! Here’s a glimpse of their newborn session. I just love my job, and love that I can document such happy memories. With a handsome little newborn on Friday, and these pretty girls today, I am having a fantastic week. If you know of anyone expecting, newborn photography sessions make a fantastc baby gift.

Brand New…..

May 8, 2011

I had the pleasure to photograph this perfect little guy on his 7th day of life! He was awesome and so content. I enjoyed this session so much that I didn’t even realize how much time had passed. I could photograph babies every day of the week, especially babies like him. He was so happy and loves to be swaddled tight. Many thanks to his mom for having me and congratulations for this sweet little miracle. Here’s a sneak peek of the session. There are so many more.

Turning One!

April 26, 2011

This little guy turned one the other day! Where did the time go? I have thoroughly enjoyed capturing him every few months during this year — it was so much fun to see him go from a newborn to a one year old. He is a handsome little guy and so smart! He also has the most amazing eyes — they sparkle. Notice the pictures with his new toy cell phone — I think it’s instinctive! lol Here are some highlights from the session. Thanks Matt and Christy for letting me be a part of the first year!

What a smile…
