I am finally presenting this year’s Christmas Card offerings. Below you will find examples of the designs as well as a new (and hopefully) easier ordering process. This process has been created to stream line the ordering process. Custom or semi custom designs can still be done for an added “creation” fee. If you have already had your pictures done and would like to place and order, or if you want to book a “mini” Christmas session, please email amykellyphotography@gmail.com for more details and to receive an order form. Please note that most wording to the cards can be changed for no additional cost. Thank you!

What a fun photo shoot this was! It was a pleasure for me to meet an old friend and his wonderful wife and beautiful little girl! I still can’t believe that it was 20 years ago since we worked together at a grocery store — where did the time go? Getting back to this great photo session — all I can say is ADORABLE and every word that means the same! This little girl was a natural and so happy. Her smile was contagious. She rocked the camera the entire time and her out-fits were awesome. I had a blast — here’s a sneak peek!

I say it all the time …. “I like what I am able to do for work and can’t imagine doing anything else!” I really am lucky. Even though, a great deal of my work comes after I take my pictures with editing, uploading, etc. etc. That is when my pictures come to life for me — I LOVE that! I love being able to feel how things were at the time pictures are taken. Pictures should tell a story, and that is always my goal every time I cover an event or do a portrait session. Which leads me to another thought I have had recently. How many times do you look at old pictures and laugh at a particuliar face or expression someone made or a silly outfit, or see an object in the background and think of something else? Old pictures can spark so much emotion! While I always strive to get classic shots and the posed ones that moms want, I also capture the unposed — the candids! I think these are the absolute best! They tell the story! I always tell clients that I want my pictures to be like a time stamp — to freeze time as it is. That being said, as parents we know that kids don’t always smile for the camera, in fact, I cringe when people say “say cheese”. I would much rather engage children in coversation about things they like to evoke smiles and laughs. Even still not, all kids want to smile — sometimes it’s there way of having control or it’s simply being 2, or 3 or 4 and sometimes even 10! I want to capture personalities. Either way, it’s always my goal to record life the way it is on any particuliar day no day is ever perfect. In doing so, I think my images will be treasured for life. Some day they will be way more interesting. Years from now, I hope people can remember the day, how mom got them dressed what their baby brother or sister did to them or how they laughed! While I have the technical skill and artistry, I want to capture the realness of your life — I want to tell your story!

Without further adieu, here’s a wonderful family I met last week. I had so much fun with them, and that’s another part of my job I love — meeting new people! These little girls were so sweet. While only two years apart, I just loved how the older girl called her sister baby. I just chuckled because they were both just babies to me (and so incredibly precious). Their session brought me back to when my boys were this age, and oh what I would do to have had a family picture of all of us when they were that little!

I think this may have been my longest blog post ever. With no more delays, here is this incredibly sweet family!

fun sunday….

September 19, 2011

Once again, I’m behind on my blog, but here’s a wonderful session from yesterday. This brother and sister duo seemed to be the best of friends (either that or they had me completely fooled! lol) –they were so much fun and so photogenic! Their yard was the perfect backdrop, and giant beechnut tree was pretty cool too, and I even climbed a ladder for the tree shots! Check out some highlights….

This session has been in the works for some time and one of the last night’s in August proved to be a perfect night for a portrait session! What a location and what a beautiful girl! We definitely had some fun and amazingly enough I did not fall while I was in the water! Here are some of my favorites from this session.

This handsome little guy is certainly no stranger to my blog! In his short twelve months of life, he’s made it to my blog and fb page several times. Isn’t he handsome and quite adorable too? I had so much fun photographing him on his birthday — he surely “worked” the camera. I love his silly expressions and smiles! I think he might even be quite the athlete one day — look at one of the pictures below where he is sporting a sideways one handed plank! ha ha ha Here’s a glimpse of his session below! You will see his back yard is quite pretty too!

I haven’t added a blog post in what seems like forever! That does not, mean I haven’t had anything to add — actually it’s quite the contrary! I have been so busy with shooting portrait sessions and events that I have greatly neglected my blog. I love taking pictures, meeting new people, being creative, and editing, however resizing pictures and uploading them to my blog is tedious and something I do not enjoy! Though I do love looking at picture on my blog once they are up. Unfortunately fb makes it easy to upload a few images at a time, to showcase a session, however fb also does not display the images as nicely as they really are. With that being said, I am going to backtrack and my subsequent posts might be in no particuliar order, but I do want you to see some of what I have been up to over the course of this summer. Some things have been private events (there have been several) and in those cases, I’ll keep them private even though they have have been fun and yielded some awesome images. In other cases, with the permission of my clients, I will post previews of their session here!

With out further adieu, here is a wonderful session from last night! I am proud to say this is the fourth year in a row I have photographed this beautiful family. One of my favorite things when photographing families and children is getting right on the level of the children while capturing doing what they do best — that is being kids! Last night was no exception. While they sat for some pictures, they also ran around and had fun — the way it should be. As you will see, the light and the setting was fantastic! Here goes….

Sarah & Brad…..

January 2, 2011

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure do so Sarah and Brad’s engagment photos. It was just a couple of days before Christmas and such a nice time to be walking through Boston Public Gardens. We even had a little bit of snow. I had met Brad at an event several months ago, but it was my first time meeting his lovely fiance, Sarah. They are a wonderful couple, and I am so excited for their wedding this summer. Here is a sneak peek of there session.

Super cute….

November 18, 2010

This little guy is getting so big! Three months ago, I did his pictures for the very first time and now he’s looking all dapper and almost sitting up! He is just so cute and like a little man — I just love his hat and his eyes just sparkle! I think we definitely have a keeper for the Christmas card — I can’t wait to see which one gets picked. Here are a few for now.

Cousins….

November 17, 2010

I am completely blogging out of order but I just LOVE this picture. I think it will be hillarious to look at this twenty years from now. It’s hard to believe that these cousins are actually the same age, though right now a few months apart is such a huge difference. There will be much more to post from this family, but I had to share this one for now.
