What a beautiful day….

September 22, 2010

and a beautiful family! I had a blast meeting up with this family the other day — both the weather and location were gorgeous! It was a last minute thing, but it worked out perfectly . The sneak preview tells it all, but there is lots more to come.

Excuse me….

August 23, 2010

Oh my goodness!!! I must have sounded completely crazy the other night. While you would never know it based on the fantastic expressions below, the little guy was very reluctant to sport a smile! I should say EXTREMELY reluctant! He wanted no part of the camera at all! We talked about Thomas the Train, Diego, Dora, Santa Claus, fire engines, police cars, motor cycles, etc. — nothing mattered! That was until I let out a roar of a burp! Yes that’s right — I belched to get him to smile and laugh! Before you think it was accidentall and I was just covering for myself, I promise it was completely planned. It was my final attempt to get a smile before I stood on my head (and of course it would have been pretty hard for me to snap any pics standing on my head! lol In any event, my efforts worked. He smiled, and I got some terrific shots. These little ones are absolutely adorable and while, it may not be a great thing, I can now add “deliberate belching” to my repertoire of ways to make children laugh and avoiding those fake smiles that result from saying “cheese”!!! (I hate saying chesse — it does NOT work!) Well here you have it…… a a few burps that resulted in some great shots! Oh and by the way, I did say “excuse me”! ha ha ha

I had another fun portrait session today with two adorable little boys! It was especially nice because they were visiting from out of state at their grandparents’ home, which are my parents good friends. I was so happy to meet their precious grandchildren! I also enjoyed seeing their mom who I hadn’t seen in many years — wow time does fly! It was a hot day but these guys were champs. Here’s a preview of their session. I hope they enjoy the rest of their visit and have a wonderful time seeing “Thomas the Train”!

Brothers….

June 23, 2010

This was such a special shoot. It wasn’t just a two year old shoot or a senior shoot. Instead it combined the two, as it was for two brothers — one who is two years old and the other who is eighteen years old. The older brother will be leaving for college this summer so it documents a really special time for them. Both boys were so handsome and photogenic. It was also obvious to me that, though spread apart in years, they were very close. The little guy adored his big brother and the older guy was so loving and patient with him. I really enjoyed getting to capture this special time. I love that many of the photos were candid. I think they will be very special in the years to follow. Best of luck to the recent graduate – I think you’ll always have a very special little man always looking up to you!

Happy Birthday…..

May 28, 2010

The month of May has almost passed, and I am so behind in my blogging. I have so many great shoots to blog about but decided to jump back into blogging with today’s wonderful shoot. Then I will work my way backwards (while trying to keep up with my busy weeks ahead!) Today was Joseph’s first birthday, and I was so happy to document his special day. He is without a doubt, one of the happiest one year olds I have ever met, and he is also incrediby handsome — of course, I am partial to red heads! Our location proved to be great, as Joseph loved the wall, and he seemed to enjoy pulling himself up and holding on. I have a feeling that he will be pretty mobile soon! Here’s a sneak peak to this birthday boy’s session!

Actually, it was more like police cars, fire trucks, and more police cars! While there was a lot of commotion during this session, it was very much a success. Instead of being distracted, everyone was quite engaged. These children were naturals when it came to picture taking on. They were full of smiles, in fact per their mom’s request I had to persuade them not to smile for a few serious shots. The tree picture is one of my favorites even though my heart was sinking in fear, not that a child would fall (because I knew they were all set) but afraid the tree would break. I did not want to have to explain that to my congregation! While the flu caused us to reschedule a few time, I am happy we were finally able to meet and that everyone was finally healthy! Here’s a sneak peek. 112109_5206

Memory Lane….

November 6, 2009

This shoot was special to me, because it was for an old friend of mine. We grew up on the same street and played in the neighborhood together for years. Then we grew up and lost touch. Without sounding like a cliche’, we reconnected on facebook, and I am so happy that we did! I was so happy to do this session to see her and to meet her husband and girls for the first time. As we walked around, and I clicked away with my camera, I was flooded by so many happy memories. I hope these pictures will bring many more memories for them – they looked awesome! Thanks for traveling a little distance. 102509_6589

Feel better soon…

November 5, 2009

I just hear that a friend of mine was feeling a little bit under the weather but I am hoping that she feels a little better with a sneak peek of her family’s session. I LOVE the results. They were so patient as I got the lighting just right. In some instances, that actually meant waiting for a nice cloud to pass over the sun. In any event I think I got it right. I seriously amazed by how grown up each of them seems – last I remember, they were young kids at the park! Where does the time go? Here’s a few for now. 103109_8272

especially after the rain-out we had on Saturday. In addition to loving photography, I love meeting new friends along the way. I met this mom about a month ago and soon after, she booked a session. It was my pleasure to photograph her family and I am happy to have met a new friend too. Without further adieu, here is a sneak preview! Aren’t they adorable? 102509_5133
